Dr. April Rogers is a life-long Los Angeles resident, who has had a strong passion for strengthening the bond between people and animals, ever since she was a young girl.
By the age of eight, Dr. Rogers had already decided that she wanted to become a veterinarian. Growing up around many senior citizens and their pets, she realized how pets helped her elders remain spry and more youthful. At the age of twelve she got her first chance to work with animals by becoming a pet-sitter for her West Adams neighborhood residents. By the age of sixteen, she was working as a Veterinary Technician Assistant for Angeles City Pet Hospital through the Trinity Baptist Church Summer Youth Employment Program.
"My beloved mentor, the late Dr. Brannon Woods, taught me so much. As a teenager I was already drawing blood, vaccinating pets, placing IV catheters and performing minor procedures while under Dr. Woods' guidance. All throughout my high school and undergraduate education, I continued working weekends and vacations for Dr. Woods' and his practice."
Dr. Rogers graduated from Hollywood's Immaculate Heart High School in 1999. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree of Science from the accredited Loyola Marymount University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Biochemistry. From there she attended Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2007, and was awarded the AVMA Ambassador Award.
Dr. Rogers continued her training by completing a rotating internship at the California Animal Hospital, where she gained specialty training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. She followed her passion for Emergency Medicine by completing an Emergency and Surgery internship at Animal Urgent Care of Escondido. After completing her training, Dr. Rogers worked for two years as an Emergency Doctor for Advanced Critical Care of Los Angeles, now called ACCESS.
"During my years while working in emergency medicine, I realized that so many of the crises that I managed were preventable. I wanted to help educate pet owners about the importance of preventative care so they could avoid the ER."
Dr. Rogers’ passion led her to the Veterinary Care Center in Hollywood, where she spent six years working with families to prevent health crises, and provide wellness care for their pets. She developed a deep passion for managing chronic diseases.
Dr. Rogers’ life-long passion for chronic illness management led her to start her very own house call practice, "Hollywood Mobile Vet." From 2018 through 2024, as a mobile veterinarian, Dr. Rogers has had the unique privilege of truly meeting patients on their own terms, while greatly reducing the stress and discomfort of more fragile patients.
Dr. Rogers is thrilled to bring that same passion for individualized care to Sepulveda Animal Hospital where she can continue to serve her home city with the highest level of compassionate veterinary care.
In her free time, Dr. April Rogers is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Rogers is deeply committed to mentoring future veterinarians, paying forward the support she was blessed with from her youth. Dr. Rogers is an active member of Trinity Baptist Church of Los Angeles, singing in the Gospel Choir, and serving as Co-Chair of the Scholarship Committee. Dr. April enjoys traveling with friends and family, working out, dancing and singing karaoke.
